Volunteers assist staff in monitoring the annual quilt display every year

During the run of the annual quilt display in October, the museum needs responsible persons from teenagers to seniors who can monitor the quilts while visitors are viewing them. Knowledge of quilting is NOT necessary, just the ability to answer basic questions and work with the public in a polite but firm manner (you will be enforcing the "no touching rule"). Usually monitors work a single 90–120 minute session either in the morning 10 am to noon or 3 pm to 5 pm in the afternoon during weekdays or, single 60–90 minute shifts anytime on Saturday.

The museum thanks the Four Corners Quilt Guild for their annual assistance with the installation and de-installation of the quilt display. Also, the Guild is responsible for "meeting and greeting" quilt visitors during Maple Leaf Festival weekend. Volunteers mentioned above are needed prior to and after Maple Leaf weekend.

One of the ongoing projects of the museum for 2008 is the computerization of its collection records and volunteers to enter data into the computer per a repeatable form and workers are always needed. Instruction is given three times a year so interested parties can start just about any time. If you are new to computers and want a little experience learning the keyboard and basic skills, this is a possible project for you! Volunteer scanners are needed as well, experienced or inexperienced.

Trenton Tubbs Eagle Scout Project, 1988, located behind museum facility. Nature Trail closed during 2008 due to ice storm damage. Volunteers sought for re-habilitation project. Could qualify for Master Gardener and Master Naturalist hours.

Those looking for educational internships are welcome to inquire about ongoing research projects that may need assistance. Curatorial internships are available, too, for those wishing to work with artifacts or archives in a more formal setting to meet educational requirements for school credit.

Also, the museum is always happy to talk to Scouts and other service groups, or individuals wishing to work on Master Gardener certification hours about special projects inside and outside the museum that may qualify for service badges or service credit. Please contact the Director for suggestions.
