Powers Museum Schedule for 2011 Season

Museum closed for 2012 Winter Season to prepare for HVAC replacement project.  Access to Reference Library/Archives by advance appointment only. Please identify yourself as a NHD student/teacher, if appropriate, so we can expedite your requests. 

If interested in access to Gift Shop, please note that the museum sells limited books, Rt. 66 souvenir items and its new 2012 Calendar at Oldies & Oddities on the westside of the Courthouse Square.  They are open seven days a week from 10 am to 5 pm.  For mail order sales see Gift Shop Page of website.

Public Schedule for 2012 has not been determined by staff and board but re-opening is tentatively planned for sometime in late April or early May depending on repair work and winter weather.  Off-site presentations to educational and community groups are possible during this time (by appointment) but are subject to staff availability.

  

 Admission to Museum & Services

Museum is open to public free of charge but donations, no matter how small or large, are always appreciated.  A donation box is located at the entrance of the exhibit gallery.

Photocopy charges: 20 cents per page if self-serve (researcher makes own copies on our machine) or 30 cents per page if staff member makes copies.

April 5  Powers Museum presentation to the Joplin Geneaologial Society in Joplin MO, evening

 

April 13 & 14  Powers Museum sponsors Historic Downtown Carthage Art Walk -- watch for museum activities downtown those days. 

 

May 5 Saturday -- Ozark Gateway Master Gardener Plant Sale and Powers Museum Rummage Sale

(Community-wide Rummage Sale Day in Carthage MO)

8:00 am until sold (about 2pm) Rain or Shine

 

June 24   24th Anniversary Open House at Powers Museum

 

October 7 - 30  Maple Leaf Festival Quilt Show at Powers Museum

This year's focus will be on historic quilts with "stories."  Preference given to quilts with provenance from the Carthage area then Jasper-Newton-Barton Counties then quilts from elsewhere in the four-state Ozarks region.  Entry deadline will be July 31. Contact museum for further details or watch website for info by early spring.
