Local Chapter Founded: 1910
Scrapbooks cover years: 1910-1998 (except 1991-1995)
Condition of scrapbooks: Various conditions from poor
(two earliest scrapbooks) to good-fair for most and excellent for latest
creations.
Scrapbooks cover general chapter activities, local/county/state/US
history programs and projects adopted by chapter/state/national DAR organizations
such as the School of the Ozarks and other charitable projects. Programs
for regional/state/national DAR conventions are part of the scrapbook
contents but were not given detailed attention due to their non-local
focus; but, general themes of convention when pertinent or of controversial
nature (ie. admitting African-Americans into DAR) were noted in subjects
of individual scrapbooks.

DAR float in Carthage Defense parade. From left to right: Mrs Flowers,
Mrs.Barnes, Mrs. McElroy, Mrs Zane, Mrs Parker and Mrs Izard. |
The earliest scrapbook contains most Carthage and
Missouri history as well as early photographs of Carthage that pre-date
the local DAR chapter. These were duplicated into new copy photographs.
Like the various club scrapbooks, MHRAB grant project
work included cleaning, inter-leafing, AF boxing, catalog processing and
archiving loose scrapbook contents. Fine-tuning of some entries remains
to be done due to alphabetizing problem discussed in introduction/final
grant report.
Copy photographs have not been processed yet into
catalog records.
Please note that more subjects and names can be accessed
by individual scrapbook catalog records.
