Carthage "Club" Scrapbooks

(Various accession numbers/gift lots)

Carthage has been noted throughout the years for a large number of social and service clubs for both men and women. These particular scrapbooks were selected for processing since their content fell within the years (c 1910-1970s) of the three other collections being processed with the MHRAB cycle 3 grant. Also, with increased demand by museum patrons and researchers for information on subjects of the 20th century, processing these scrapbooks would assist in meeting this need as well.

All scrapbooks were cleaned, photocopied on acid-free paper (for reference use), inter-leafed with acid-free paper, removed of loose papers/clipping (latter archived), entered into Past Perfect software, scanned (one identification image only) and then boxed in approved archival storage boxes (large format).

Some follow-up activity will be needed with scrapbooks in the poorest condition for consideration of microfilming or encapsulation due to brittle page mounts.

Note: Subjects/Names given below are considered major entries; by searching catalog entries in Past Perfect many additional Subjects/Names will be found for the various scrapbooks and any associated materials archived apart from scrapbooks.
