Stone & Cole Mining Company

Ledger, January 8, 1917 to May 10, 1918

This partially used ledger book contains expense and income entries for the Stone & Cole Mining Company, exact location in Jasper County unknown. Owners are assumed to be A T Cole and O W Stone found among the entries.

There is a reference for incorporation expenses, so an inquiry should be made to the Missouri Secretary of State's office to locate same. Entries are in chronological order and do not contain extensive detail of income source or expense bill.

Western Historical Manuscript Collection in Rolla has other tri-state district mining records available on microfilm. Other local sources would be the Tri-State Mineral Museum at the Joplin Museum Complex or the Missouri Southern State College Archives; both hold extensive collections regarding the local mining industry.

Basic Jasper County mining information is found in the Powers Museum's Carthage Vertical File resources and the general county histories in the Reference Library. The Powers Museum holds no maps pertinent to tri-state mining activities nor any geological studies on lead and zinc mining.
