Carthage National Bank Book of Stock Certificates, January 9, 1911 to November 25, 1920 issues The Carthage National Bank was opened in 1875, originally called the Farmers and Drovers Bank. David R Goucher was the founder and President. Later re-organized as a federal bank and re-named, Carthage National Bank moved to 401 S Main Street in 1908 where it operated when this stock book was created. Jackson and Son, Contractors applied the Carthage stone building front that exists today at that time. In 1915, the board of directors consisted of Silas A Stuckey, R E Frey, J W Aylor, Robert Moore, George Brown, B L Van Hoose, Joseph D Perkins and David R Goucher. The latter had started the Farmers and Drovers Bank. Bank capital stock was $100,00 with surplus and undivided profits of $30,000. A 1918 bank ad gave resources as over $880,000. Board members as of that year were A F Carmean, Walter E Carter, G E Hough, Ed H Irwin, F L Moore, Allen McReynolds, Brown and Van Hoose. It was this set of board members who oversaw the merger with the Bank of Carthage in 1920 and became involved in that institution in subsequent years.
