Powers Museum meeting room.

Host a Museum Meeting
Small clubs are encouraged to meet at the museum in our library/meeting room and tables and chairs for groups up to 12–18 people can be provided. A program by the Museum Director or a gallery tour can be arranged as well and is encouraged. There is no fee for daytime use of the meeting room; however donations are appreciated. Please contact the museum for fee structure (when meals are served and/or meeting is held at night) and information on other restrictions. Reservations are required well in advance and no meetings are allowed from mid-December through early-March.

ATTENTION MUSIC TEACHERS

Looking for a small, intimate recital space? The museum's meeting room is available for such activities and can seat up to 30—35 (or a few more depending on arrangement). Our historic, 1905 Knabe piano is kept in tune and can be used by students, too. If your recital is held during regular public hours (click here for schedule) there is no rental fee although a donation to offset setup and cleanup time is appreciated. If you wish to book a recital at night (date/time subject to staff availability to open and close facility), a donation of $50.00 is suggested. For further information, call the museum's director at 417-358-2667.

Arranging Organized Group Tours
Small groups (12-30 in number) are always welcome to visit the museum anytime during public hours and while a reservation is not required, notifying us in advance at least two weeks, will assure that we have the proper number of staff or volunteers on hand to serve your group well.

Large groups (whether students or tourists) are welcome at the museum, too, but due to the size of our facility, such groups do present some challenges that need to be addressed before visiting. For full-sized buses of 50—60 passengers, groups must be divided in half for the comfort and pleasure of your clients/students. Depending on the nature of your group and their interests, special activities (i.e. orientation/historical videos, musical demonstrations, or other presentations) are provided in the meeting room to half the group while the other half is in the main exhibit gallery. After about one half hour, the groups are switched.

Kendrick Place

If traveling with more than one bus, a special itinerary is set up to rotate buses at various local attractions and/or with the Municipal Park picnic and playground facilities across the street. Whether one bus or more, advance reservations are required at least three weeks in advance of visit. Sorry, no tours are permitted during the annual maintenance/exhibit redesign period from mid-December through early-March.

Please note that the museum is happy to extend its hours to tour groups if you need an activity from 5 pm to 7 PM (Tuesday through Friday only) prior to your dinner engagement or other evening activity.
