Mirror Images: Daguerre and the First Photographic Process (2001 Exhibit now CLOSED)

In 2000, the Powers Museum loaned several daguerreotypes that were used in an exhibit at the International Photography Hall of Fame & Museum in Oklahoma City. In the late fall of 2001, the Powers Museum had a chance to host a mini version of this exhibit discussing Louis Daguerre and the first photographic process. The exhibit was augmented with other daguerreotypes from the museum's collection that were donated several years ago by former resident Alice Light. This was the first time any of these photographic images had been displayed at the Carthage museum.

The Powers Museum is grateful to the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum for this opportunity. The exhibit and brochure were originally sponsored by the Kirkpatrick Foundation, Inc. and we would like to acknowledge this foundation as well.

NEW in 2010 & 2011

Unfortunately, almost all the photographs in the Alice Light collection are unidentified. Throughout 2010 & 2011, the museum is putting more of these images online in hope of getting more of them identified and/or better dated.  If you would like to volunteer helping the museum put these images online, please email powersmuseum@att.net or call 417-237-0456.
