Carthage Browns of the Western Association, 1941
This section contains photographs in the JCSLA gift lot that involve Carthage Browns team members. The Browns were part of the Western Association in 1941. This was Class C baseball and games were played in the Municipal Park Stadium located off West Oak Street (also serving at the time as Highway 66). According to John Hall as found in his book MAJORING IN THE MINORS (copyright 1996), "Without question the best team in the Western Association in 1941 was the Springfield [Missouri] Cardinals. They were led by Stan Musial, Hal Olt, Ollie Vanek, Archie Templeton and Sylvester "Blix" Donnelly." For further information on the Western Association season of 1941 and its players, see pages 21 - 29 in the book referenced above.
