Carthage Baseball Photo Archives -- Entire JCSLA Gift Lot (All photos regardless of team affiliation)
This portion of the exhibit gives access to all baseball player images in the JCSLA collection regardless of team affiliation. All of these images were acquired in 1992 when the local savings and loan establishment closed and its assets were taken to Washington, DC. The predecessor to that last institution was the Jasper County Savings and Loan Association who sponsored games and must have publicized the teams from time to time in its facility on South Main Street by displaying these photographs (all have thumb tack holes in corners). Beyond this use, the museum has not researched the ties between JCSLA and the various leagues at this time. To start viewing images "Click" on "Start Exhibit" above and images can be viewed one by one. You will have option to enlarge image for bigger view once at the catalog record for each image. "Click" on "Table of Contents" above to see brief listing of all images or consult list given here by team affliation. Remember, if you do not see a listing for a particular player, we do NOT have an image of that missing name/player. These are the only photographs the Powers Museum holds for these teams at this time (August 2006). We would be happy to add to this collection and if you would like further information on how to make a donation, please contact the museum.
ATTENTION VIEWERS: Copy prints and negatives are not available at this time for any of these images. Scans of the images (in original formats - 75 dpi) can be emailed upon request subject to copyright and use restrictions given on the home page of this website. If higher resolution scans are needed, please contact the Powers Museum with your request and further information will be forwarded to you. PLEASE NOTE: The information presented for each player in this on-line exhibit is all the museum has access to without further research. Those wanting more information are urged to consult John Hall's books Majoring in the Minors or The KOM League Remembered (available for on-site use at the Powers Museum Reference Library) or through inter-library loan via your own town library. The museum also sells The KOM League Remembered (supply very limited as of August 2006) at the museum facility and through a sales case at Oldies & Oddities Mall on the west side of the Carthage Courthouse Square (on S. Main, open daily 10 am to 5 pm except selected holidays; supply very limited). Access to local newspapers documenting league games is available at the Carthage Public Library and/or through inter-library microfilm loan via the State Historical Society of Missouri in Columbia. The museum does NOT have any game information at the museum in its research collections. The museum is open to the public mid-March through mid-December but email inquiries are taken during the interim months or you may call 417-358-2667. Any additional research requested is performed as other staff duties permit on a first come, first served basis and may involved off-site consultation which requires a research fee. Name spellings used throughout this website were taken from actual photograph "autographs" and/or from John Hall's reference books, preference given to names on photographs as found. Please report any errors to the museum and we will make corrections to website when able (probably 1-2 times a year, subject to other staff duties and budget restrictions).
